Alan Besterman began his financial services career in January, 1982 with the Equitable Life in New York City.  Over the next 10 years, he obtained New York State license’s for Life and Health Insurance as well as the then NASD Series 7 Stock Broker’s license.  Also, during this time, he obtained the Chartered Life Underwriter certification from the American College in Bryn Mawr Pa, a degree in the economics of living.

After relocating to Columbia County NY from NYC in 1990, he expanded into tax return preparation with the acquisition of The Balance Sheet from it’s founder in 1994.  The combination of skills of tax return preparation and the offering of financial programs combine to into a unique ability to provide the client with a comprehensive, macro economic planning process that maximizes tax savings with the best opportunity for growth.

Also, the combining of these unique products and services has enabled Alan Besterman to grow the Balance Sheet into the premier, independent financial services firm in Columbia County.
